  • Planning and Forecasting
  • Balance Scorecards
  • Reporting and Analytics

Planning and Forecasting
Many companies today use hundreds of excel spreadsheets to gather the Plans and Forecast used to set the companies goals.  This process is time consuming and error prone.  Microsoft has developed PerformancePoint Server to help streamline the Planning and Forecasting process into a single interface familiar with the end user.  PerformancePoint uses excel to automate the Planning process by providing workflow management for all planning cycles.  By using Excel as the front end, users gain a comfort level with the tool from day one.  While IT enjoys the robust solution of having the data entered into Excel submitted and stored in a central SQL Server.
Analytic vision has been developing Planning Applications for many years.  We are very happy Microsoft has developed a product to complete and round out there offering for Business Performance Management.  Let us show you have to implement best practices using PerformancePoint for your planning application.

Balance Scorecard
Many businesses use the approach of a Balance Scorecard to determine if the business is meeting its goals.  These scorecards measure the company’s performance across four different areas.

  • Financial – how implementing and executing the company’s strategy is contributing to the bottom line.  KPIs can include: Cash Flow, ROI and Gross Margin
  • Customer – how the company satisfies a customer and in turns increases there orders.  KPIs can include: Customer Retention, Order Completion by Date and Quality
  • Operational/Internal process: how the company delivers on the Customer portion of the Balance Scorecard.  KPI’s include: Number of products brought to the market, improved Asset utilization and Supply chain management.
  • Human Resources/Learning and Growth: This area focuses on the intangible assets of the company like, Employee Retention, Investment Rates and Employee Satisfaction

PerformancePoint Scorecard can be hypertext sensitive and can launch additional views to show detail information behind each KPI.

Reporting and Analytics
Most companies prefer utilizing the web for providing end-user access to reports and analytical information. This could include intranet, extranet, or portal web applications that provide access to analytical data for your employees, customers, vendors, or as part of a worldwide organization.

Standard reporting is important to any Performance Management implementation.  Through the use of Reporting Services, standard yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly reports can be generated and sent out through various means.  One of the most beneficial means Analytic Vision has found to a BPM implementation is to publish reports to the executive’s mobile device.

Another element to a performance management implementation is the use of Ad-hoc reporting.   This method of reporting is used to gain quick access to information on why the company is exceeding or not meeting its goals.  Microsoft uses several technologies to assist the user in identifying the root cause.  This includes Custom views available through PerformancePoint, Excel pivot tables and Proclarity advanced analytics.  Each of these tools can provide standard data grid view and Graphs.  More complex views are available like: Decomposition Tree, Performance Map, Perspective view.

By leveraging best practices and implementation experience, Analytic Vision can help your organization gain all the functionality that is needed for performance management, including scorecards, dashboards, management reporting, analytics, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation. Allow us to develop your next performance management application that will reach all employees across all business functions (finance, operations, marketing, sales, and human resources).
