Consultant
The core competencies for this position include the ability to:

  • Perform core system functions on the applicable platform such as creating queries, updating data with system utilities, and basic operation functions.
  • Assist in gathering functional information from end users and executives, including gaining a basic understanding of their business analytical needs.
  • Document functional requirements from interviews.
  • Assist in developing project-related documentation, such as procedures and training documentation.
  • Understand database tables, including physical and logical key structures. Know how to view database information on the system, and demonstrate the ability to create a data dictionary and data warehouse relational tables. Understand the differences between a relational database and a multidimensional database.
  • Demonstrate a basic level of skill with SQL and other programming languages.
  • Understand the capabilities of custom cleansing programs. Have the ability to describe cleansing requirements, and have the ability to determine if a process is working correctly.
  • Utilize a suite of data warehouse development tools used by the firm. Skills include basic abilities with all products in the suite, and an intermediate skill level in some of the products.
  • Convert user analytical requests into beneficial online reports and OLAP view designs.

Senior Consultant
The core competencies for this position include those of the Consultant plus the ability to:

  • Understand the capabilities of applicable administrative/work-management computer functions. Have the ability to present options to the client on technical topics such as security.
  • Lead the functional requirements gathering process. Ask the appropriate questions to gain an understanding of the business and analysis requirements for a data mart. Utilize functional experience gained from prior projects by proactively making suggestions regarding client utilization of OLAP analysis to improve their business decision making process.
  • Understand the concepts of a star schema and multidimensional database design. Participate in data mart design sessions by assessing the fit of proposed designs to business requirements. Have a good understanding of the required output, and challenge a design for any perceived shortcomings.
  • Understand the data cleansing process and have the ability to utilize a query product to view data and assess the correctness of the designed cleansing. Provide appropriate aid to developers by identifying inconsistencies in the use of source data from a business perspective.
  • Develop an expertise in the use of applicable OLAP products. Have the ability and creativity to convert business user requirements into easy-to-use OLAP views. Help identify appropriate OLAP design standards and lead the development effort of the OLAP portion of an implementation. Train users and co-workers on the advanced uses of an OLAP product.

Project Manager
The core competencies for this position include those of the Senior Consultant plus the ability to:

  • Participate in sales calls; this includes giving product demonstrations and leading high-level design sessions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop project work plans which include both time and resource estimates that are reasonably accurate. Manage the project task list and keep the client and project team up-to-date with weekly status reports.
  • Manage the project team through all phases of the implementation methodology. Have a hands-on role in the administration, requirements, design, and OLAP development phases.
  • Demonstrate expertise in data mart subject areas, an applicable platform, and a product suite for data warehouse development.
  • Train Analytic Vision employees on designing data warehouse solutions.

Senior Manager
The core competencies for this position include those of the Project Manager plus the ability to:

  • Obtain new business by pursuing leads and selling business intelligence services. This includes the development of the engagement letter and the supporting project work plan that utilizes the Analytic Vision Implementation Methodology.
  • Manage multiple regular-sized engagements as well as large implementations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and offer recommendations utilizing data warehouse solutions which provide end users with desired analytical capabilities and are maintainable by the client’s technology department.
  • Stay abreast of the latest business intelligent analytical products, techniques and solutions being utilized in the market. Effectively analyze the pros and cons of new solutions and make good recommendations on solutions in which Analytic Vision should consider gaining experience.
