Join us for a presentation to learn how companies can take the next step in reducing their monthly closing process effort by capturing account activity and automating cash flow calculations. Often ignored or delayed in the initial implementation plans, continuing with data collection and automation of cash flow component calculations can help speed the monthly close and provide more time for value-added analysis.
Date and Time: March 11th, 2010 12:00 PM until 1:15 PM EST
Topic: Automating cash flow calculations using Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and Financial Data Quality Management
Abstract: Inundated with the demands of changing business priorities, companies quite often do not continue a phased consolidation implementation plan beyond the initial phase. Later planned phases may include collection of statistical data and the automation of cash activity analysis required to complete the cash flow statement for management and external reporting. In this session you will discover how some basic input templates and additional rules can assist with preparation of this all-important statement, including foreign currency exchange rate effects.
Business analysis is first completed to understand the drivers of disclosures included in the various cash flow statement sections (operating, investing and financing). The data collection process is amended to allow inclusion of relevant information in the ETL system so that common components are reported in the same way throughout the organization. Finally, validations are constructed to assure reported information reconciles to account changes included in financial ledger feeds.
Combining entry of direct components with analysis using the application tools, corporate financial personnel can provide structure for subsidiary and remote financial teams while retaining the flexibility necessary for the diverse reporting requirements of the cash flow statement.
